Chris Brown’s nomination at this year’s Kid’s Choice Awards has become a concern for the “Take You Down” singer, fans, critics and award show organizers in recent weeks. As of today, however, Brown looks to be steering clear of the show and anything related to it. In fact, a source close to the singer told PEOPLE “Chris has been hanging out with Rihanna, working on his music and spending time with and speaking with his mother and pastor” leaving little room for a paparazzi covered Kid’s Choice Award red carpet. In recent days, Brown’s nomination has ignited controversy and outrage with Nickelodeon, the host of the ceremony, defending its decision to uphold the -now- controversial singer’s nomination. Releasing a statement early this week, Nickelodeon says it stands by its nominations and according to the release says “the kids who vote will ultimately decide”. Of course that decision has been slammed by outraged parents and critics who are now calling for a boycott of the show. Popular blogger/personality and recent author Perez Hilton says he will not support or cover the Kid’s Choice Awards on his site. An online petition asking Nickelodeon to remove not only Chris Brown, but Rihanna as well, from its nominations had over 5,000 signatures Tuesday. According to our sources, some believe Rihanna’s decision to reunite with Chris Brown just before he was charged with a felony count of assault is just as bad, if not worse, and sets a bad example for children who listen to their music and watch the Kid’s Choice Awards. What do you think….. Should Chris Brown and Rihanna be removed from the Kid’s Choice Awards or should their nominations stand ?
