SWV singer and inspirational recording star Coko is back in the studio recording the follow-up to 2006s “Grateful”. Coko’s as-yet-untitled release, following the songbird’s work with Donald Lawrence, Kierra Sheard, and Warren Campbell, is likely to hit stores and digital retailers this summer. The former SWV singer’s album follows an exclusive 2008 interview with Essence in which Coko dispelled rumors of an SWV reunion album: “We were talking about a reunion album, but I’m not interested. I don’t want to cheat the girls and our fans. I don’t want to start something I can’t finish. Taj and Lelee understand where I am and they respect my decision. There’s no tension or beef. Occasionally, we do special shows like the BET Awards, but a whole reunion tour and album? Spiritually, I’m not there.” “I want to stay on the path that God is leading me and that is to continue my ministry continue to reach out to others and spread the good news.” In other album related news, former American Idol (season 3) star George Huff is set to release an inspirational sophomore album ! For George Huff, his self titled sophomore release follows a period he calls “spiritually low” after experiencing loss and devastation at the hands of Hurricane Katrina. Speaking about the period, which Huff says was a “spiritually low time,” the “Turn It Around” singer notes: “The Bible says if you deny Jesus here on earth, he will deny you before his father in heaven. These troubled times have led me closer to God.” “So many people are going through hard times financially and spiritually and my music is meant to recognize that and be an antidote for it.” Tapping Grammy Award-winning producer Aaron Lindsey and Jamiene ‘J-Skills’ Thompson, Huff says “The CD is reflective of the times we are living in and the hardships I’ve endured in my own life. My music tells the story but also encourages you to hold on, turn your situation around and have some fun”. “George Huff” (self-titled) is set to hit stores and digital retailers April 7th.
