R&B singers India.Arie and Bobby V made strong debuts on the Billboard 200 with their respective efforts “Testimony Vol.2: Love & Politics” and “The Rebirth” this week! According to Billboard, India Arie, who has the week’s best selling R&B/soul based album, moved 76,000 copies of “Testimony Vol. 2 Love & Politics”. The album, Arie’s first under a new deal with Republic, follows the singer’s acclaimed effort “Testimony Vol. 1 – Life & Relationship”. Led by the single “Chocolate High,” “…Love & Politics” comes in short of its predecessor as it debuts at no.3 instead of no.1 (2006). A few slots down, R&B singer Bobby V made a similar debut with his first Blu Kolla Dreams helmed album “The Rebirth”. Led by the single “Beep,” Bobby V’s “The Rebirth” landed at no.7 on the strength of 64,000 copies. Elsewhere on the chart, Taylor Swift, Lily Allen and Ryan Leslie were also noted for their respective releases. The latter of the aforementioned trio, Ryan Leslie, debuted at no. 35 on the Billboard 200 chart with 24,000 copies sold while Taylor Swift’s “Fearless” album slid back up to no.1 with 92,000 copies.
