Tyra Banks will receive a token of appreciation in the form of an excellence award at the 20th Annual GLAAD Media Awards this spring. According to GLAAD, who revealed nominees late Monday, Banks will receive the Excellence in Media Award for her work on several projects including the Tyra Banks Show. Banks, who is readying the next season of America’s Next Top Model, has also received four additional award nominations including three nominations for best Talk Show Episode and a nod for best Reality Program (America’s Next Top Model). The Bankable Productions mogul will go head to head with her daytime television contemporaries Oprah Winfrey and Ellen for best Talk Show Episode. In addition to Banks, Diddy’s VH1 series ‘I Want To Work For Diddy’, the recently NAACP Image Award nominated flick ‘Noah’s Arc: Jumping The Broom’ and the LOGO series ‘Shirts & Skins’ have all been nominated for GLAAD Media Awards. The awards honoring media representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community in 26 English-language and 15 Spanish-language categories will be presented at a series of dinners: March 28 at the Marriott Marquis in New York, April 18 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles and May 9 at the Hilton San Francisco.
