Gospel and inspirational artists including Donnie McClurkin, The Clark Sisters, Deitrick Haddon and Kirk Franklin descended upon Nashville, TN for Saturday’s Stellar awards where Marvin Sapp led the pack of winners with seven awards ! Marvin Sapp’s “Thirsty,” featuring “Never Would Have Made It” ended up winning CD of the Year and Traditional CD of the Year. Sapp’s inspirational record “Never Would Have Made It” earned the singer Song of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Music Video of the Year in addition to the coveted Artist of the Year Award ! (see full winners list below) Kirk Franklin (Urban/ Inspirational Single / Performance of the Year), Dorinda Clark Cole (Female Vocalist of the Year), Jessica Greene (New Artist of the Year) and The Clark Sisters (Special Event CD of the Year) also won awards. Jonathan Nelson (pictured above) featuring Purpose became the night’s second leading act, picking up three awards including Contemporary CD of the Year.
