TD Jakes has two things to smile about this week. The acclaimed Bishop, known also for his Potter’s House Ministry, will see his book ‘Not Easily Broken’ come to life on the big screen Friday. ‘Not Easily Broken,’ which features Morris Chestnut, Taraji P. Henson, Kevin Hart and Jennifer Lewis, has been described as an uplifting drama about love and family. Telling the story of Dave (Chestnut) and Clarice Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), ‘Not Easily Broken,’ follows the couple who faces a breaking point in their marriage after Clarice (Henson) is seriously injured in a car crash. The accident brings to the surface problems that have been building for years â problems caused by a lack of communication, eroding respect for one another and conflicting life priorities. Directed and adapted by Bill Duke and Brian Bird, ‘Not Easily Broken’ is told from a male perspective. “I think women viewers are going to be fascinated to hear a man talk about love and relationships,” Jakes said in a recent interview. “Many women do not understand the depth to which men feel pain when the relationship does not work,” Jakes says. “Women tend to think men are emotionless. But there is a great deal of anxiety in men when things do not go right with their women.” In addition to ‘Not Easily Broken,’ TD Jakes is among those noted on Gospel Today’s Top 20 Influential Pastors and Church Leaders list. Compiled and presented through Gospel Today, the top 20 list also features Rick Warren, Creflo Dollar, Kenneth Copeland, Kirk Franklin, Dr. Bobby Jones, Tony Evans, Pastor Shirley Caesar, Bishop Eddie Long, Bishop Paul S. Morton, and Bishop Vashti McKenzie. NAACP Image Award Gospel Nominees ! Nominees for the 2009 NAACP Image Awards were revealed this week.
