Britney Spears is calling in ‘Amy” for her next single….and not Amy Winehouse (that would be interesting though). Spears has selected “If U Seek Amy” as the follow up to her second single “Circus” which failed to achieve the success of “Womanizer”. Since Spears’ album hit stores in December it has failed to reach the success of previous albums like “Britney” (5 million copies sold, which also moved near 779,000 copies its first week) on the charts. Selling less than 1.5 million copies in the U.S. since it’s debut, “Circus” has in effect been beat out by competing divas like Beyonce (near 1.6 million) or even 2008s breakout star Taylor Swift (2+ million) who has moved nearly twice the amount of Spears’ “Circus”. Hopefully “If U Seek Amy” will give Britney the boost she needs. Spears’ highly anticipated tour, featuring the Pussycat Dolls, kicks off later this winter. Britney Spears’ “Circus” has reportedly sold near 1.2 million copies in the U.S. since December, earning Platinum certification. “Circus” has peaked at no.4 on the UK Albums chart. “Circus,” the single holds on the Billboard 200 at no.6 after 5 weeks on the chart.
