Janet Jackson’s ‘Wardrobe Malfunction’ Goes Straight To The Dictionary

As if it has not already been burned into our memories, Janet Jackson’s “Wardrobe Malfunction” phrase will be added to new editions of Chambers English Dictionary according to recent reports. Jackson, who was performing during the 2004 Super Bowl’s half-time show, created a firestorm after her stage partner Justin Timberlake ripped open her top, revealing a breast. When more than 90 million people saw the live broadcast, the term “wardrobe malfunction” was coined. Today “wardrobe malfunction” remains so popular that Chambers English Dictionary has added the phrase to new editions of the dictionary. Other dictionaries such as Merriam-Webster are expected to follow suit. Janet Jackson kicks off her highly anticipated “Rock Witchu” Tour next month.
