Chris Brown and Lil Wayne Lead 3rd Annual Ozone Award Nominees

Ozone Magazine announced nominees for the 3rd Annual Ozone Awards this week. Lil Wayne who is currently atop the Billboard charts picked up eight nominations while R&B singer Chris Brown picked up a leading two nominations. The 3rd Annual Ozone Awards, hosted by actor/comedian DeRay Davis will be held August 11th in Houston, Texas honoring the best in Hip Hop and R&B. Topping the list of nominees for this year’s award ceremony is Lil Wayne, with 8 nominations in more than 5 categories including TJ’s DJ’s Hustler Award, Club Banger of the Year and Best Lyricist. On the R&B side, Chris Brown led the pack with two nominations including Best Rap/R&B Collaboration for the single “Get Like Me” with David Banner. Brown and Banner face major competition as Usher’s hit “Love in This Club,” Plies’ single “Bust It Baby Pt.2″ featuring Ne-Yo and Ray J’s “Sexy Can I” featuring Yung Berg are also nominated for Best Rap/R&B Collaboration. Brown finds himself in good company in the Best R&B Artist field where he goes head to head with The Dream, Trey Songz, Keyshia Cole, T-Pain and Ne-Yo. Honoring the memory of the late UGK rapper, Pimp C, OZONE has dedicated a new category, the “PIMP C AWARD (TRILLEST ARTIST)”, to a list of nominees who have expressed personal views and been outspoken about controversial topics in and outside of music. Nominees include Kanye West, David Banner, Killer Mike, Lil Wayne, Trae and Trick Daddy. “We wanted to dedicate a category this year for the Trillest Artist Award,” explains OZONE Founder and producer of the OZONE Awards, Julia Beverly. “Since Pimp C was one of the most vocal members of our community we felt it was appropriate to name the award after him.
