Trey Songz Plans ‘Songz for Peace’ Concert in Chicago

R&B singer Trey Songz has teamed up with upcoming “Gangster with a Heart of Gold” author Noonie Ward to hold a series of events including an outdoor benefit concert in light of the recent increase in crime among Chicago’s youth. Set for August 5th, the event, an attempt to reach out to the youth and parents in the community (Chicago) will include celebrities such as hip hop star Twista and professional athletes including Eddie Curry, Bobby Simmons and a host of others. In addition to the main event on August 5th, a “Hoopz for Peace” basketball tournament & a Celebrity Softball Game are tentatively scheduled for Sunday August 3, 2008. The following night Noonie Ward will hold a “Poetic Justice” poetry slam & book release party for his long anticipated novel “Gangster with a Heart of Gold.” He will also hold a book signing during “Songz for Peace.” Noonie is a former high ranking member of the Gangster Disciples, which is reported to be the largest criminal organization in the United Stated and is now one of Chicago’s entrepreneurial and philanthropic elite. Noonie’s organizational genius, once used for terror across the Mid-West, is now focused on positive, productive business and community development projects. Songz and Ward are currently seeking sponsors for the event.
