Award winning R&B singer/rapper and actress Queen Latifah can now add a fragrance to her growing resume. Latifah, who recently starred in the film âWhat Happens in Vegas,â signed a global licensing agreement with Parlux Fragrances this week to launch her first fragrance set to debut in the U.S. fall of 2009. According to Queen Latifah, “For me, beauty really does start on the inside. It’s like a state of mind, a state of love if you will. So I see fragrance as just a natural expression of this state of love: scent expresses a woman’s confidence and sensuality; it’s how she embraces her body, her mind and her strength.” “Individuals of all ages and races connect with her compelling charisma and her compassion. Every woman is a Queen in Latifah’s world. With that sense of empowerment in mind, the fragrance we will create together is, naturally, going to express not simply beauty and sensuality but inner strength and an exuberant sense of confidence,â says Neil J. Katz, Chairman and CEO of Parlux Fragrances. In addition to the new fragrance, Queen Latifah joins Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson and Sophie Okonedo for âThe Secret Life of Bees,âan adaptation of a novel by Sue Monk Kidd slated to hit theaters later this fall.
