R&B singer R. Kelly is gearing up for a summer release for his next project, “12 Play: Fourth Quarter.” The new release comes with less than a year since he issued âDouble Up.â Kelly made the announcement during his newly released remix of Mariah Carey’s hit, “Touch My Body.” According to Jive, “12 Play” is being pushed for a summer release. The first single from the album, “Hair Braider,” is receiving rave reviews of Singersroomâs music chart and it is the top debut this week at No. 59 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. “12 Play” will be the follow-up to 2007’s “Double Up,” which has sold 935,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Kelly will also start his trial May 9th. Prior to that trial date, the case had dragged on for five years without a trial and had originated with 21 counts of child pornography filed against him in 2002 for allegedly videotaping himself having sex with an allegedly underage girl. Seven of the charges were dropped due to statute of limitations though the singer still faces 14 of the charges. Kelly, 41, has pleaded not guilty to the charges and faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
