What’s Poppin: News on R. Kelly & Usher, Mel B, Paris Hilton and The Game

R&B superstars R. Kelly and Usher have teamed up to star in a new music video for their duet “Same Girl.” The singers collaborated on the track on Kelly’s new album ‘Double Up’ and recently finished shooting the promo, which they promise will be state-of-the-art. Video director Lil’ X tells MTV.com, “There was no ego when they got together. They were playing basketball on lunch breaks, it was all good. No egos. No gangs. It’s all straight, it’s all good. Just the chemistry and good vibes. You’ll feel it off the screen.” – “It’s been a while since we had the resources to do it big, with the music industry how it is… (but fans) can look forward to the song really coming to life with a little extra something.” – “We didn’t go too dancey in this. We do definitely get a nice performance part in this, but for the most part it’s really the story. A little movie and I give people a little moment.” Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown has reportedly failed to name Eddie Murphy as the father on her baby’s birth certificate. The one-time Scary Spice is currently embroiled in a paternity suit following the birth of daughter Angel Iris in April and the pair appeared in a California court on Monday, where the Murphy submitted a DNA sample. Brown’s publicist confirmed the singer had listed Murphy as the father on the child’s birth certificate. She said, “Yes, he is listed as father.” But a copy of the document, minus Murphy’s name, emerged yesterday. The certificate does, however, list the baby’s middle name as Murphy. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said in a press conference Thursday morning that Paris Hilton has been transferred out of the medical ward of the Los Angeles Twin Towers Correctional Facility and was returned to the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynwood, CA, the all-women’s facility where she originally started to serve her sentence for a probation violation a little over a week ago. The transfer took place Wednesday night. West Coast rapper The Game, who was arrested on charges of impersonating a police officer last year, rejected a Manhattan prosecutor’s offer Wednesday of a guilty plea for a sentence of time already served. His lawyer Jeffrey Lichtman said, ‘why should he plead guilty to bogus charges for a non-jail sentence if he’s innocent. And he is innocent. It’s rare that I have a 100 percent innocent defendant, but this is one.”
