Grammy winning R&B singer MYA will headline a Young Professionals for Senator Rod Smith fundraiser on June 29th at the Hotel Victor in Miami Beach. Mya created the Mya Arts Foundation in 2005 to provide education in the arts for inner city and suburban youth in her native Washington, D.C. The Foundation also provides much-needed leadership and mentoring for the local youth community. ?We reached out to Mya because of our shared commitment to education,? said Sen. Smith. ?She shares my vision that strong educational programs not only elevate the scholastic achievement of our children, but also give them the direction and purpose to succeed more broadly.? ?I?m thrilled to participate in this event,? Mya said. ?It?s so important that young people are involved in the political process, and I?m happy to see an elected official who talks straight in a way that younger voters can relate to and who is willing to offer real solutions to real problems.? With ticket prices starting at $50, the Young Professionals for Rod Smith event is part of the campaign?s outreach out to younger voters.
