The ex-wife of BET ‘Sunday Best’ host and Gospel recording artist BeBe Winans says she hopes to help others with her story, especially Christians who may choose to suffer through abuse rather than reach out for help. Speaking hours after her ex-husband, Gospel-icon BeBe Winans was booked on charges of misdemeanor domestic assault, Debra Winans told Nashville’s WSMV “When you’re married to someone known all over the world, it has serious challenges”. BeBe and Debra Winans were reportedly married for 16 years before and divorced in 2003. The separated couple also have two children who were reportedly the subject of a verbal altercation that resulted in Winans allegedly pushing his ex-wife “to the ground”. Stating people of faith are held to a high standard, Winans went on to say “The power of God is real, but one thing he’s not going to do is go against someone’s will. We make choices”. BeBe Winans, who is currently hosting BET’s American Idol-esque reality series ‘Sunday Best,’ had not released a statement at press time.
