After achieving 28 Billboard No. 1 singles, and over 100k social media followers, hit-maker Brian Culbertson has been in the studio conspiring with his cosmic group of musical soul brothers on his second funk collection entitled Funk!.
Today (October 6th), Culbertson drops the colorful, animated video for “The Call,” a track from Funk! which is a 14-track opus dedicated to a venerable and indisputably influential genre. On the album, Culbertson stretches beyond the boundaries of the jazz while paying homage to a litany of funk pioneers from yesteryear.
Animated by Andre Forbes, the video for “The Call” features Brian and his band members Marqueal Jordan, Chance Howard, Eddie Miller, Rodney Jones Jr., Tyrone Chase, Chris Miskel, and Michael Stever in cartoon form as they drive to a local bar and turn the motha out!
Culbertson says:
“The concept for ‘Funk!’ was to make an old-school, throwback funkadelic record in the style of P-Funk meets Prince and to tour with the same band that appears on the album – my band plus Chance (Howard). The show we will be taking out on the road is unlike anything anyone has ever seen from me before. It’s on an entirely different level.”
The award-winning multi-instrumentalist who has released 15 studio albums is on a coast-to-coast 64-date concert tour where the showman will be flanked by the same band showcased on the album.
