It was a couple of months back that London-based, triple-threat Ruby Francis dropped off her first official release of the year “Move” – a delightfully silky, smooth R&B number produced by herself alongside chart-topping producer Shift K3y. Since then the songstress has been in the studio carefully crafting and stacking plenty of new material in preparation for the release of a debut project.
Taken fresh from that archive is “Paranoid” which was unveiled on Friday (April 8th). The track tells a tale of indecision caused by apparent trust issues, summed up in Ruby’s words such as “that point where you’re not sure if your thoughts are real, or if you’re the one who needs to chill.” Sonically, we get a serving of some real soul, combined with some unmistakable futuristic, pop-tinged R&B influences. Ruby’s vocals sit snug on the classic sounding chords, with some distinct backing harmonies acting as a remnant of a past era. As with her previous single, writing and production duties are handled by Ms. Francis herself, as she again aims to showcase just how much of a force to be reckoned with she is as a top-tier singer, songwriter, and record producer.
Be sure to look out for more new music from Ruby Francis, as she looks to make her mark this year. Definitely one-to-watch.
