Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds was the Legend Award honoree at the 2015 Soul Train Awards. His songwriting/production catalog is over 25 years long, having written for everyone from Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Brandy, Bobby Brown, Toni Braxton and more, so it’s about time he got his props and Soul Train did that for him tonight (Nov. 29)!
Boyz II Men, Fantasia, Brandy, Bobby Brown and Tevin Campbell all showed up to tribute the singer-songwriter/producer, all singing songs he’s written for them or for others. Tevin Campbell came out from obscurity to sing “Can We Talk,” Brandy briefly sang her Soul Food soundtrack hit “Sittin Up In My Room,” Boyz II Men appeared to perform "End Of the Road” and “I’ll Make Love To You,” Bobby Brown sang his hit “Tenderoni,” and Fantasia slayed Whitney Houston’s “Shoop” and Karyn White’s “Super Woman,” all songs Babyface had a hand in writing.
The legend then performed his own solo hit “Whip Appeal” before given the Legend Award by longtime friend and musical collaborator L.A. Reid. Watch the 16-minute tribute below:
