To celebrate the release of the season two soundtrack of Fox’s hit drama “Empire”, Columbia Records has released one of the project’s potent tracks, a duet between Jussie Smollett and Alicia Keys called “Powerful.”
The song is an anthem for world peace and harmony. “Every shade was beautifully made and powerful, there’s so much strength in you and me / Powerful, a breath away from victory / I matter, you matter, we matter,” they wail on the chorus. Alicia Keys will guest star as a pop star named Skye Summers on next week's episode (Nov. 25).
Empire: Original Soundtrack, Season 2 Volume 1 is the follow up to Season 1’s chart-topping soundtrack. The release features songs from the first half of Season 2 and never-before-heard songs from upcoming episodes. The LP includes cast members Jussie Smollett (Jamal Lyon) and Yazz (Hakeem Lyon), alongside Terrence Howard (Lucious Lyon) and guest stars Timbaland, Pitbull, Alicia Keys, Bre Z, V. Bozeman and Serayah. The soundtrack was produced by Timbaland, NE-YO, J.R. Rotem and Swizz Beatz.
The album comes in both standard and digital deluxe versions, the deluxe version features eight additional songs.
