Neo-soul singer David Morin's musical exposure began as a street performer in Vancouver, Canada, honing his craft for local passersby. But he finally made it to the studio to record his dope sounds, which culminates into his debut album Every Colour (Bombay Records).
Every Colour, which officially drops tomorrow (Sept. 4), literally hits on many colors of soulful sounds. Evident in the previously released singles “Life Goes On” and “Heaven,” Morin’s sound of jazzy soul is refreshing. Opening the set is “Fair To Breathe” which will have you snapping your fingers like a cool cat in the corner of the club and “MJ” is another one that follows suit. “Satellite” is another stand out track while “Same Old Game” focuses on changing the world one person at a time, harboring rich harmonies, live instrumentation, and the same chill grooves present throughout the entire project. “Not a things gonna change if it doesn’t start with you,” he sings.
It’s been a long time coming for Morin, when, after being jaded by a negative experience in the music industry while being a part of a band signed to an indie label, he started performing solo shows at open-mic nights in legendary Vancouver clubs like Anza. There Morin developed the essence of his current live performances.
It’s safe to say you’ll be hearing more about Mr. Morin soon!
