In an interview earlier this year, BJ The Chicago Kid told us: “I’m not really a “young” fan. There are not a lot of singers today that move me, I’m more into the old school.” So it’s no surprise that his latest tune “Where I’m From” is a take on Anthony Hamilton’s 2003 hit “Comin’ From Where I’m From,” a contemporary, soulful song with old-school flair.
With help from poet J. Ivy, BJ chronicles his stomping grounds of Chicago using Hamilton’s template over a chill track. You’ll be able to find this on the upcoming compilation album Lead Never Follow for Chicago men's clothing store Leaders 1354 set for release at the beginning of 2015.
