Industry tastemakers gathered Monday for a private first listen to former Motown artist Hal Linton’s new mixtape, ‘Technicolour.’ Held at BMG Chrysalis Studios, the event was sponsored by Hennessy and was an intimate showcase of Linton’s recent projects including newest single, “Want You to Know“.
Linton hosted the event himself, walking the crowd through some of the tracks he referred to as “personal life stories” about love and relationships. Before playing one of his favorite tracks, “Cheater”, he gave the ladies in the room a disclaimer that this one was “for the fellas”. Another standout track was “Circles “, a song about continuously running back to the same lover, which included a few mentions of Brooklyn in the lyrics. The crowd pleaser however, was “Critical Condition” featuring Bajan singer Shontelle. The two artists teamed up again for a flavorful; Caribbean track that is clearly inspired by Linton’s Bajan roots.
Overall, Technicolour is sure to please Linton’s fans . The mixtape drops today (September 12th) on www.datpiff.com.
