The “Golden Age of R&B” was a time where signature groups like SWV, Brownstone, Xscape and TLC serenaded the airwaves and dazzled crowds throughout the world. We seemed to have lost this strong presence today in regard to female R&B groups. Many R&B artists have also abandoned their respected genre for Pop and Dance. The R&B landscape has changed from the glory days of the 90’s. However, the “Queen of Hip Hop Soul” Mary J. Blige has taken upon herself to address these issues by assembling an all female R&B group hailing from Baltimore to bring that old feeling back.
Last night, after wrapping up her four night concert series at Atlantic City’s Caesar’s Palace, Blige introduced the newest members of Matriarch Entertainment, singing quartet Just’Us. This marks the first female group to be signed to Mary J. Blige’s Matriarch Entertainment. Very fittingly, she introduced the group after she performed “No More Drama”.
“These are my little Mary’s; they each remind me of myself at different points in my life,” says Blige.
Later Blige and the ladies of Just’Us chilled out in Atlantic City. Just’Us is gearing up to begin their official name campaign later this year. To keep up with Just’Us follow @maryjblige @justusladys and YouTube channel TvJustus.
