Montell Jordan’s move to create music outside of secular recordings “wasn’t a decision to do gospel album, it was really a decision to go into ministry.” The “This Is How We Do It” singer released his eight studio album ‘Shake Heaven” in November, diversifying his music to reach cross-cultural audiences.

“Part of what I wanted to bring to the table of me making chamber music was the quality of production and quality of sound that the same way a Christian would listen to regular music,” Jordan told YouKnowIGotSoul.

He continues: “I want to make sure that the music that’s being created has the same appeal that would draw in believers and non believers alike; that they would just like good music.”

The new musical direction is delivering Jordan the most rewarding experience of his career. “I get more joy out of seeing people focused and looking toward God than I did when they were looking toward me.”

Do you miss the old Montell?

For most of his career, Montell Jordan has been a master of the R&B genre. His sultry and smooth voice brought life to classic songs such as “This Is How We Do It” and “Get it on Tonite.” But recently, the singer-songwriter has taken a turn towards gospel music and inspirational tunes. He’s still relying on his strong background in R&B but giving it an uplifting twist that speaks directly to the soul. In this article we will discuss how Montell Jordan is using his unique appeal for creating gospel/inspiration songs and why he decided to make the switch from R&B.

Montell Jordan has always had a passion for making music with impactful lyrics. As early as 1995, when Jordan released his debut album, “This Is How We Do It,” he was expressing himself through meaningful messages while maintaining that signature rhythmic style that made him so recognizable within the industry. His approach to creating melodies resonated not just with listeners but also with other artists who have gone on to sample some of his work over the years.

In recent times however, Jordan has shifted away from contemporary R&B vibes towards more spiritual tones intended for inspiration and healing. Although there are hints of traditional soul throughout these new works, they take on a different form than before – one which emphasizes positivity and strength even during trying times. The artist says he wanted to create something special that can be used by people everywhere as motivation or comfort no matter what their circumstances may be.

Biography Of Montell Jordan

Montell Jordan is an American singer, songwriter and record producer. He rose to fame in the 1990s with his Billboard-topping single “This Is How We Do It”. His R&B appeal has been used for gospel and inspirational songs over the years.

Jordan started singing at a young age, performing in church choirs around Los Angeles and eventually joining a group called PHD that toured on college campuses across the US. In 1992 he signed a recording contract with Def Jam Records, launching his solo career and releasing his first album as well as several singles that made it onto the charts.

Throughout his career, Montell Jordan has had multiple hits on both pop and R&B radio stations. Many of these songs have featured spiritual themes or messages of self-empowerment. Additionally, he’s collaborated with other artists to create gospel albums including The Masterpiece (2008) and Shake Heaven (2014). With such success writing music that speaks to both secular audiences and religious listeners alike, Jordan continues to be one of today’s most celebrated vocalists.

R&B Influences On His Gospel/Inspiration Songs

Montell Jordan’s ability to blend R&B and gospel/inspiration music has been a major factor in his success. His use of catchy hooks, soulful vocals, and powerful lyrics appeals to both secular and religious audiences alike. He often incorporates elements from church choirs into his songs while keeping the sound fresh and modern.

Jordan’s hit single “This Is How We Do It” is an example of this combination of styles. The song features soul-filled verses about faith, hope, and perseverance interwoven with hip hop beats that appeal to a contemporary audience. He also released several other singles throughout his career such as “Let’s Ride” which blended gospel themes with pop-style production values.

In addition to creating inspiring music on his own, Montell Jordan has collaborated with numerous artists over the years including Kirk Franklin and Fred Hammond for the album The Masterpiece (2008). He also featured in Shake Heaven (2014) alongside Israel & New Breed and Marvin Sapp. These collaborations provide listeners with a unique experience blending traditional gospel sounds with today’s top R&B stars. This approach continues to be popular amongst fans of all genres, further cementing Jordan as one of the most influential vocalists in recent times.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Montell Jordan has used his R&B influences to create unique and inspirational gospel/inspiration songs. His journey as a singer-songwriter began in the late 1990s with hit singles such as “This Is How We Do It” and “Get It On Tonite.” As he continued to make music, he found himself turning to the genre of gospel and inspiration music more often. By mixing traditional elements of rhythm and blues with spiritual lyrics, he has been able to create an entirely new sound that appeals to both devout Christians and secular audiences alike. The success of his gospel albums demonstrates just how well this fusion works; it’s clear that there is still room for Montell Jordan’s brand of faith-based R&B in today’s musical landscape. Whether you are looking for uplifting music or simply something fresh and exciting, be sure to give one of Montell Jordan’s gospel/inspiration songs a listen!
