Treston Irby, formerly of 90s R&B group Hi-Five, is back on his solo journey once again after being shot five times. Irby described how the incident helped revive his music insisting, "The day I woke up out at the hospital after getting shot 5 times, that’s when I knew it was time to start working."
Four years prior to the shooting, Irby had stopped pursuing a musical career. "I gave it up; there are too many changes in the industry and I was just out of pocket and I turned into that regular dude man," he told YKIGS.
Now that he is ready to reintroduce himself, Irby is challenged with finding an audience for his new album '10473.' The last album fans heard from Irby was Hi-Five's 'The Return' in 2005.
"Biggest challenge trying to return after so long is having people get familiar with me again," he says. "Out of sight out of mind… Have to put the voice with the face and all that, that’s pretty much the biggest challenge and to show that I still have it."
'10473' will be released on Irby's Bronx Most Wanted Entertainment company and the first single out is "Everything."

In the early 90s, hi-five was a popular R&B vocal group formed in Waco, Texas. The five members of the group consisted of Cory Byes, Tony Thompson, Marcus Sanders, Russell Neal and Roderick Clark. For years they enjoyed success with their hits “I Like the Way (The Kissing Game)” and “She’s Playing Hard to Get”.
However, tragedy struck when one member of Hi-Five was shot during an attempted robbery on March 27th 1993. Thankfully he survived but his career was put on hold due to this traumatic event. After months of recovery, he eventually chose to start over and restarted his music career.
He determinedly worked hard for many long hours until finally achieving success again as a solo artist by releasing multiple albums on major labels such as Sony Records.
