In just three days the BET Awards 09′ will go down in Los Angeles but, the real battle during this year’s show will be between R&B/Pop’s leading women. Five chart-topping ladies, including Beyonce, are vying for Best Female Artist ! In addition to Beyonce, Keri Hilson, Keyshia Cole, Jazmine Sullivan and Jennifer Hudson are nominated for the award, which was given to Alicia Keys in 2008. Due to the fact that each of the nominees has done very well over the last year it is hard to predict which ‘it’ girl will take home the award. The hit singles between these women, alone, are staggering. Altogether there are nearly 10 hits between them in less than nine months including “Knock You Down,” “Singles Ladies (Put A Ring On It)” and “If This Isn’t Love”. Putting the charts aside, each artist has been recognized by international audiences and have embarked on successful tours with artists like Lil Wayne and T.I. Of course there is more to say when it comes to these ladies but, you get the point. So who will pick up the award ? Earlier this month Singersroom asked you, the fans and ultimate decision makers, who would pick up ‘Best Female Artist’. While it was a tight race, 33% of you said Beyonce would pick up the award followed by Keri Hilson (23%) and Keyshia Cole (23%)!
