SR Gospel: SWVs Coko Sets Album Release, Norful In Central Park, more

Gospel/Inspirational artist Coko, known for her stint in SWV, is gearing up for the release of “The Winner In Me”. Set for release July 14, Coko’s album will feature collaborative efforts with Israel Houghton, Canton Jones and her mother Lady Tibba. Speaking on the album recently, Coko offered “I’m so excited about this record and ready for the world to hear it. If you’re feeling down, insecure, depressed or just going through some things, this is the album for you!” Coko’s “The Winner In Me” follows the 2006 album “Grateful,” which featured a reprise of the popular record “Endow Me” along with production from Warryn Campbell and Donald Lawrence. In related Gospel news, Smokie Norful, Ruben Studdard and Byron Cage are taking the stage at New York’s Central Park this weekend. The trio, joined by Stellar Award-winning artist Tye Tribbett, will perform as part of WBLS and Globe Star Media’s “Gospel Explosion” Saturday, June 13 at 2pm. Also gearing up for a release and possible tour is Tri-City Singer Sheri Jones-Moffett ! Known for her work with both Donald Lawrence and Ted & Sheri, Moffett is slated to release a solo debut through EMI Gospel. The effort, due in August, has already been given a stamp approval from mentor Donald Lawrence who applauds Moffett’s “growth”. “Not only am I excited about the anticipated solo release from Sheri Jones-Moffett, I am extremely proud of her growth as a singer, songwriter, music executive, wife and mother! Sheâs talented and a tremendous jewel for The Kingdom. If life has drained you â¦ get Renewed!,” says Lawrence. Sheri Jones Moffett’s debut album “Renewed” is due August 11 through online retailers and stores.
