After releasing five albums, R&B crooner Jaheim was finally recognized by the Grammy foundation for his art, logging three Grammy nominations for his latest effort âAnother Round,â including âBest R&B Album,â âBest Male R&B Performance,â and âBest R&B Song.â
Singersroom caught up with the âFinding My Way Backâ hitmaker at the ASCAP Rhythm & Soul 2nd Annual Grammy Brunch and before he broke out into a James Brown dance, he told us he âfeels good.â
Jaheim, who attended the Grammys for the first time, says heâs not sure which one of his nominations holds closer to his heart but he loves the songwriting recognition. âIâm biased. I love what I do. Iâm about writing. I went from writing 3 bars to writing full songs. I love being a writer,â Jaheim tells Singersroom. âI love putting a story together and hear people say âMan I love that!ââ
As far as his writing process, Jaheim says itâs a collaborative effort with his team.
âI have a team of writers. I start the mood and push it off and have them add on,â he says. âOr they might come with something and I just add on. Or I just might write the whole song or they might write the whole song! [Laughs] We just come together collectively.â
