During his Coachella night one performance, The Weeknd got a little emotional.
While performing “Call Out My Name” and “Privilege,” the 28-year-old singer couldn’t hold back and shed a few tears. The tracks were both featured on The Weeknd’s six-song EP My Dear Melancholy, released last month. Both songs seemed to be about his 10-month relationship with actress-singer Selena Gomez. The pair broke up last October.
“Privilege” speaks a lot on the entertainer’s previous relationship, “Enjoy your privileged life/ ‘Cause I’m not gonna hold you through the night / We said our last goodbyes / So let’s just try to end it with a smile / And I don’t wanna hear that you’re suffering,” he sings. “And I’ma f**k the pain away, and I know I’ll be okay / They said our love is just a game, I don’t care what they say / But I’ma drink the pain away, I’ll be back to my old ways / And I got two red pills to take the blues away.”
“Call Out My Name” touches on the couple’s rocky relationship and Selena’s kidney transplant. “We found each other/ I helped you out of a broken place/ You gave me comfort/ But falling for you was my mistake,” The Weeknd penned.
