After releasing the song, ‘Happy for Me,’ which followed the Time Flies mixtape, Bridget Kelly returns with the brand new single ‘Sedated,’ the first offering from her long-delayed debut album, Reality Bites.
On ‘Sedated,’ Kelly wants to pursue new love, but her relationship history makes for a weary trial. In the accompanying music video, the R&B songstress spotlights different sides of her emotional vibe while singing away her pains over the Hip-Hop-driven track.
“All I really want is to love and not to fear/ It can take a broken heart, so I guess I’m staying here,” she sings.
“‘Sedated’ is a metaphor for how intoxicating love can be when you have ended up on the wrong side so many times,” she told Billboard. “Women are so strong, yet experience many unique pressures. ‘Sedated’ is a narrative that explores the want and desire for love juxtaposed with the fear of the challenges and hurt that can come with it. The real that comes with it.”
About the video, she adds: “The video was shot to capture the different sides of someone experiencing this dilemma,” she says. “It’s sexy, angry, restless and bold all at the same time. My video director Isaac Yowman used some cool visual effects to creatively captured that internal struggle.”
Bridget is aiming to release Reality Bites on April 27.
