With their latest Toronto link up, singers Jessie Reyez and Daniel Caesar deliver their heavenly collaboration, “Figures Reprise.” The single, originally linked to Jessie, was the singer’s breakout track. And now that these two are at an all-time high in their careers, touring the world, and putting on for their hometowns, the timing was perfect with this one.
The Canadian duo first premiered the remix at the Juno Awards on Sunday night, where they delivered a duet performance.
While Jessie sings of leaving a love that brought her nothing but self-doubt and pain, Daniel tries to win her over by convincing her that every relationship has its faults but that’s what makes them worth it.
“Wish that I could help myself / Give my love to someone else,” he sings. “Stuck to you, you turn me into a fool / Worried about my mental health / All the pain that I done felt / Knocked me right off my own pedestal.”
The soulful remix is a stripped-down, acoustic version, leaving it to stand on its own.
Jessie is currently celebrating her Juno Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. Daniel has much to celebrate too as he also took home a Juno Award for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year for his astounding debut album Freudian.
