Over the weekend, Bobbi Kristina Brown’s ex-boyfriend Nick Gordon was arrested on domestic violence charges in Florida.
Gordon, 29, was arrested by police in Seminole, Georgia in the early hours of Saturday after clashing with his girlfriend, Laura Leal.
According to the arrest report, Gordon claims his “crazy” girlfriend Leal “attacked him for no reason,” but she told officers he was the one who lashed out at her after she picked him up from a bar and drove him home.
Cops reportedly noticed she had a “visible injury,” including a “slightly swollen bottom lip with dried blood,” which was photographed for evidence, and although Leal declined to press charges, authorities determined they had enough to take Gordon into custody.
He posted a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 6 for amisdemeanor battery charge.
This is the second time Gordon has been arrested for a domestic dispute with Leal, who he has been dating for the past year. In June 2017, Leal accused him of physically beating her and trying to prevent her from leaving his home.
He was hit with charges of kidnapping and domestic violence, but the case was subsequently dropped after Leal changed her mind and stopped co-operating with cops.
Meanwhile, Bobbi Kristina’s father, singer Bobby Brown, has reached out to Leal to offer her help via his non-profit organization Bobbi Kristina Brown Serenity House, which was founded three years ago to provide support for victims of domestic violence.
“Domestic violence killed my daughter and on March 4, 2018, the Bobbi Kristina Brown Serenity House held our first event to strike back at domestic violence,” Bobby Brown said in a statement to the Daily News.
“I personally would like to extend my hand to Ms. Leal and offer her services through our organization. I do not want to see any more families destroyed at the hands of domestic violence and I do not want any more women to suffer like my daughter did. We are here to assist and we hope to hear from Ms. Leal.”
Gordon is still under criminal investigation over the passing of Bobbi Kristina, the only daughter of the late great Whitney Houston, who was found face down and unresponsive in a bathtub at the Georgia home they shared in January 2015. She never regained consciousness.
Drowning and drug intoxication were named as the underlying factors in her July 2015 death.
Gordon was ordered to pay $36 million to Brown’s estate in 2016 months after being found legally responsible for her death. He has always denied allegations suggesting he physically assaulted her and gave her a cocktail of drugs prior to her passing.
Just last month, Bobby Brown told Rolling Stone he felt justice for his daughter had not yet been served — and would only be once Gordon was rotting away in jail.
“Justice? If he was locked up somewhere where somebody can rape him. That’s just how I feel,” the singer said. “He raped me by taking my daughter away.”
