Tamar Braxton not only filed for divorce from her husband of almost nine years, Vincent Herbert, she’s also going for his jugular.
The “Love and War” hitmaker filed papers in a Los Angeles court on Tuesday, citing irreconcilable differences for their split.
It’s been rumored for the last year that the couple’s relationship has been on a downhill slide. A low point in their marriage came in August of last year when police were called to the Ritz-Carlton in Atlanta in response to a domestic dispute, which Herbert allegedly bit Tamar’s finger.
While promoting her recently released album, Bluebird of Happiness, which is executive produced by Herbert, Tamar said the project was her final effort, insisting she planned to use the time to work on her marriage. We guess those feelings are no longer!
Along with the divorce filing, Tamar is also requesting full custody of their four-year-old son Logan, and according to TMZ, she also asked a judge to deny spousal support to Herbert, who is also her manager, should he file a motion for help with finances. She also implied that there was no prenuptial agreement and she listed their marital home in Calabasas, California as community property.
The divorce news emerged on the same day the season five promotional trailer for the former couple’s reality show, Tamar & Vince, was released online.
In the clip, it’s clear the singer had had enough of struggling through their marriage months ago. She also discusses her final album, Bluebird of Happiness, which she describes as having “everything to do with finding myself.”
“It started off being inspired by my parents’ divorce,” she explains of the song material, “and then it turned into my own life.”
Tamar also discusses her personal troubles with her old friend, Xscape singer Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris, having recently reunited after a falling out months ago.
“I think you should get another manager – before you want to get another husband,” Tiny says, as Tamar takes off her wedding ring and declares, “I’m not willing to live like how I’ve been living.”
The new season of Tamar & Vince premieres on 9 November (17).
