Earlier this month, Five-time Grammy-winning R&B/Soul singer Lalah Hathaway revealed the release date for her highly-anticipated eighth studio album, Honestly, due out November 3, 2017.
Today, Lalah announces the 2018 ‘The Honestly’ headlining tour, which kicks off on Tuesday, Jan. 16 in St. Louis, Missouri. The trek will make stops in major cities like Chicago, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. before wrapping on Feb. 11 in Atlanta, Georgia. Lalah will perform a combination of her most beloved hits and fresh new tracks from ‘Honestly’ on her journey.
In addition, Lalah will be providing local musicians with the exciting opportunity to open up for her on ‘The Honestly Tour.’ As part of a new online competition, aspiring artists can submit footage of themselves performing in the hopes of securing a coveted opening act slot. The full contest details are available via LalahHathaway.com, with Lalah herself adding this:
“Calling all my #realmusicrebels across the country! Would you like to come open for me on my #HonestlyTour? As an advocate for local talent it’s important to me that you get your shot! There’s an opening slot in your city! Upload your musical performances to Facebook and Instagram with #IWantToOpenForLalah and #IWantToOpenForLalah[enteryourcity] (e.g. #IWantToOpenForLalahChicago ) I will PERSONALLY be reviewing all submissions! I will also be giving the opportunity to release your own single with my label, Hathaway Entertainment! GOOD LUCK!”
The ‘Honestly’ album is headed by the first single, “I Can’t Wait,” and the set invites listeners to join Lalah on a personal journey that is intimate, disruptive, and honest.
“My approach has always been to find and write great stories, which was a driving factor behind the creation of honestly,” said Lalah. “This album is a collection of entirely new and original recordings that really express where I am at this moment in time.”
To further celebrate the album, Lalah will treat loyal fans to an in-store album signing and private performance located at Amoeba Music at 6400 Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Nov. 7. This will give fans the ultimate opportunity to meet Lalah and experience her soulful music up close in an intimate setting.
