Vivian Green plays a stage performer and a sexy event-goer in the music video for her reggae-inspired single, “I Don’t Know.”
In the clip, friends try to convince Vivian the artist to stop working so hard and put some of her energy into a man; they even went as far as bringing an eye candy to the show for her. “All this work you’re doing needs to be going into a man,” says one of her friends.
In contrary, Vivian the event-goer capitalizes on the handsome guy, insisting, “I like chocolate, watch this.” After walking by and batting eyes with her suitor, she comes back and snatches him up. This tells us the Viv is into her work, but she also gets her swerve on!
“I Don’t Know” was released back in July (2017) and chronicles the thoughts of a woman who thinks she could be falling in love. The song samples English pop-synth group Art of Noise’s 1985 hit “Moments in Love.”
“‘I Don’t Know’ is a fun blend of R&B, reggae, and old school. It’s about a woman who thinks she’s in love, and she is having fun making that final decision…The song was a collaboration with my manager, producer, and co-writer, Kwame. If I had to describe it, I’d simply say it’s HOT,” Green told BOSSIP.
“I wanted to do something brighter and more upbeat,” she added in a press release. “If a song was sad, it needed to have a certain attitude, energy, and life to it. I’ve done sad songs. I love them, of course. However, I wanted to evolve.”
Vivian’s upcoming album, VGVI, will arrive on Oct. 6. The set is available for pre-order now.
“I hope people can feel the emotion. When they hear it, I want them to be able to live with it,” she says about the project. “It’s a little different for me. You can work out to it, cook to it, clean to it, and do all of those things we do. I want this to be one of those records that becomes a part of your life.”
In related news, Vivian has been cast in the upcoming stage play, Two Can Play That Game, alongside Vivica A. Fox, Columbus Short, Porsha Williams, Gary Dourdan, Carl Payne, RonReaco Lee, and Cocoa Brown. Click here for tour schedule.
