R&B artists K. Michelle, Lyfe Jennings, Sevyn Streeter, Ray J along with rapper Boosie Badazz, Love and Hip Hop’s Karlie Redd, and Notorious actor Jamal Woolard will share the stage in a new hip hop musical called “Thugs and The Women Who Love ‘Em.”
Inspired by the 2005 New York Times bestselling book, “Thugs and The Women Who Love Them,” by author Wahida Clark, the stage production will debut on October 3rd in Oakland, California. The national tour will also make stops in cities like Los Angeles, Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia, before wrapping November 26th in Baltimore, MD.
The plot follows three own, Angel, Jaz, and Kyra, as they struggle to make a better life for themselves amid a world of sex, drugs, and brutal violence.
“Thugs and The Women Who Love ‘Em” is produced by Melvin Childs and directed by Zadia Ife. Announced artists will perform original songs from their catalog during the musical run.
