Last night (Feb. 12), longtime Prince collaborators The Time and multi-faceted entertainer Bruno Mars honored Prince at the 59th annual Grammy Awards.
The stage at the Staple Center was lit ablaze as Morris Day and The Time kicked off the tribute with “Jungle Love” from their 1984 album Ice Cream Castle. They then performed “The Bird,” with Day doing his signature bird dance and smooth slide moves.
Then, Mars took over for a rendition of Prince’s uptempo party song “Let’s Go Crazy.” Rocking eyeliner and dressed in an outfit reminiscent of Prince’s Purple Rain ensemble (purple blazer and white ruffled shirt), Mars entered the stage with a white electric guitar and that solo at the end? He’s a force to be reckoned with!
