Rising R&B singer-songwriter Kevin Ross taps his label-mate BJ The Chicago Kid for a remix of his inspirational single, “Be Great.”

Sometimes, what’s going on in the world can cause us to feel discouraged, but my message to people is that we have to still strive to be great every day.”
‘Be Great’ was originally released in March of this year, and was featured on the soundtrack of an episode of popular ABC drama, Grey’s Anatomy, which is how the song first garnered mainstream attention. The original visuals for ‘Be Great’ serve as an acknowledgment of the angst of a generation frustrated by police brutality and racism that often leaves its members feeling invisible to the rest of the world.
The Billboard Adult R&B chart-climbing single appears on Ross’ long-awaited EP, ‘Long Song Away,’ which arrived on Friday, December 9.
One of today’s rising R&B singers, Kevin has toured with Maxwell and Ne-Yo, and recently performed on TV One’s spoken word and music series, “Lexus Verses and Flow.” His upcoming album, “The Awakening,” is slated for a March 2017 release.
In addition to the ‘Be Great (Remix),’ students from historically black colleges across the country will have the opportunity to win a scholarship for $1,500.
“Education is so important. It’s definitely a tool that can be used in the pursuit of greatness,” Kevin adds. “I know how expensive school can be, so I want to at least be able to offer one of my fans a little something to help towards their educational dreams.”
