On December 3rd, Hot 97 presented the annual Hot for the Holidays concert at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Numerous acts performed for the one-night-only event, including headliner and legend Usher, Travis Scott, T.I, Young Thug, Flex & Friends ft. Fat Joe and Remy Ma, French Montana, Young M.A, Lil Yachty, Jidenna, Joey Bada$$, and Kehlani. There were also special appearances from Young Jeezy, A$AP Ferg, and Teyana Taylor.
The Hot 97 radio personalities entertained the crowds by playing some of the biggest hip-hop records in music. The concert started promptly with Jidenna, performing his record “Long Live The Chief.” Next, Kehlani showed off her stellar dance moves and vocal abilities.
Then Joey Bada$$ and Lil Yachty stepped on stage. Yachty performed his songs “Broccoli” and “One Night.” But once the King of the South, T.I., made his grand appearance, the crowd was really ready to party! T.I. performed his classics “Top Down,” “Whatever You Like,” “Bring ‘Em Out,” “What You Know,” “U Don’t Know Me,” “About the Money,” and “Live Your Life.”
Flex & Friends were the next performers on the agenda. Legendary DJ Funkmaster Flex brought an array of artists out including Young M.A, French Montana, Fat Joe, and Remy Ma. Young M.A sung her smash hit, “OOOUU.” Fat Joe, Remy Ma, and French Montana teamed up to perform “All The Way Up,” one of 2016’s powerful anthems.
Rising MC Travis Scott also hyped the crowd enormously when he performed his song “Goosebumps.” Scott’s performance really steered up the crowd from beginning to end. Unfortunately, Young Thug didn’t perform due to technical difficulties. He wasn’t pleased with Prudential’s audio team and stormed off the stage.
After a 15-minute intermission, it was time for the man of the hour to perform; they call him U-S-H-E-R! The R&B veteran began his segment with the sensual single “Good Kisser.” The crowd loved his sultry voice and electrifying dance moves. He also brought out Teyana Taylor while he was singing “Bad Girl.” Taylor shocked the crowd and Usher with her erotic dance moves. She made it clear to everyone that she can definitely shake a tail feather and she’s a whole lotta woman!
Usher sang his other hit-bangers “Confessions,” “U Remind Me,” “Burn, “Yeah,” “U Got it Bad,” “You Don’t Have to Call,” and his new single from the Hard to Love album, “Missing U.” Usher went down memory lane with his fans while performing his records. He ended with “No Limit,” and brought out Young Thug.
The concert left the crowd satisfied because they partied with some of their favorite artists. It was also an early Christmas present for the Tri-State area. Hot 97’s brought the heat with their line-up.
Job well done!
