Lion Babe lead singer Jillian Hervey and her mother, singer-actress Vanessa Williams, cover ESSENCE magazine’s January 2017 issue.
Hervey, 27, and Williams, 53, look flawless and sophisticated as they light up the mag’s 2017 inaugural edition.
The interview piece is principally focused on Williams and her successful 30-plus year career as an award-winning film, TV and Broadway actress.
Williams on surviving a setback: “You have to go through the fire. Avoiding the pain is why most people never resolve it. You have to dig deep, sit in it and ugly-cry. Pretending it’s not there and keeping busy are a way of avoiding it.”
Williams on finding love again: “[Marrying Jim Skrip] it was one of those easy, easy things. It was fantastic.”
As for her beautiful daughter Jillian, the Lion Babe member, and her partner, Lucas Goodman, are currently hard at work on a new project, the follow-up to 2016’s Begin EP.
