Philly-based trio iLLECTIVE drop their debut EP Beats, Vibes & Soul, a 6-track project that eclectically fuses together R&B, Hip-Hop, Funk and Electronic sounds. iLLECTIVE takes on whimsical, ambient sounds like that of Outkast, Pharrell, Frank Ocean, Daft Punk, Bruno Mars, Anderson Paak, and Cee Lo Green.
“We are a recently formed R&B/Funk/Soul group out of Philadelphia. We formed in June over a strange string of events that involved a Craigslist band, a Goldlink concert, and bass-playing bank co-workers. All of these events culminated into recording our first EP in the bedroom of my Philadelphia apartment,” member Anthony explains.
The set kicks off with “Kawasaki,” featuring soulful guitar licks, silky smooth bass, and electrifying falsettos. Fans of Daft Punk, Nile Rogers, Pharrell and Jamie XX should appreciate the funk groove of “Addicted to Soul,” a song about a classic night of falling in love on the dance floor with the perfect girl. “Dance With You” is described as the “Marvin’s Room” track of the EP, brooding synths combined with intoxicating falsettos tell the story of meeting at a party and sneaking off to have an adventure.
