Chicagoan Chris Rob’s new single “She’s On The Move” is a dedication to those strong, independent women of the world serious about moving ahead in their life, those who aren’t not willing to be distracted by the games that men play, and those who seek the truth over complacency.
“She’s on the move (she’s a working girl) / Tryna find the groove, so let her live, let her live,” he sings on the hook of the jazzy offering.
Rob is a classically-trained pianist and was featured on Kanye West’s 2007 “Can’t Tell Me Nothin,” so crossing genres is natural. His twist of hip hop, house, and cool funk can be witnessed firsthand on the recently released “Everything’s Beautiful”, the Robert Glasper-executive produced Miles Davis remix album. The final track, “Right On Brotha” featuring Stevie Wonder, was co written and produced by Chris with the industry heavyweight DJ Spinna.
“She’s On The Move” is the first release from Chris’ forthcoming project Sound Of Da Struggle, which also features guest appearances by Talib Kweli, Kafele, and more.
