Thirteen years after the release of “Where Is The Love,” The Black Eyed Peas are still asking that same question; with all the nonsense going on in the world, the song is still relevant.
The Peas got a bunch of their famous friends in the music industry to hop onto a new version called “#WHEREISTHELOVE ft. The World”; Jamie Foxx, Ty Dolla $ign, Mary J. Blige, Diddy, Cassie, Andra Day, The Game, Tori Kelly, V. Bozeman, Jessie J, French Montana, Justin Timberlake, DJ Khaled, Usher, Nicole Scherzinger, A$AP Rocky and Jaden Smith all appear on the updated version.
Whereas the original was inspired by the events of 9/11, this version addresses more of today’s issues.
The new visual includes appearances from Sandra Sterling, whose nephew Alton Sterling was killed by the police in July, Valerie Castile, whose son Philando Castile was also killed by law enforcement just one day after Sterling, and Dallas Police Chief David O. Brown.
Other artists who appear in the video but not on the song are Snoop Dogg, Rosario Dawson, Connie Britton, Quincy Jones, Lance Bass and others.
The Black Eyed Peas discussed the reason behind rehashing “Where Is the Love?” in a Facebook video via Attn:. “I remember when the Paris attack happened, people would say, we need ‘Where Is The Love?’ again,” will.i.am explains. “And then Belgium happened. And then Turkey, and then Orlando, and then Philando, and Alton before him, and then Dallas. Everyone was calling on us, like, ‘we need that song again.'”
Apple Music holds the exclusive of the video for 24 hours. Watch HERE.
