On Friday (July 15th), rising British crooner, Samm Henshaw released his second EP, The Sound Experiment 2, a continuation of his 2015 debut The Sound Experiment.
The set is five-tracks deep, once again showing how effortlessly Henshaw executes a sound that’s more mature than his 21 years of age. His rough, soulful vocal texture channels soul singers of the past such as Otis Redding and David Ruffin.
The title heading tune “Our Love’ was inspired directly by Samm’s childhood growing up in South London, and the experience of his parents (who are originally from Nigeria).
“I wrote ‘Our Love,” he says now, “about a story my Dad tells from when he first started dating my Mum: his family didn’t approve, but he didn’t care.”
