Well, we expected this, didn’t we? Actually I’m surprised it took THIS long!
Beyonce’s highly-anticipated album Lemonade arrived in April, and today (June 8) it’s been certified by the RIAA as platinum!
“#LEMONADE is Platinum, @Beyonce! Congratulations!,” the RIAA announced in a tweet today.
This makes Bey’s sixth album (out of six) that have hit 1 million or more copies sold. In it’s first week, Lemonade sold over 600.5k units, according to Nielsen Music. 485,000 units were through album sales alone. The album also rose to #1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.
That’s quite the feat in today’s music industry landscape. Congrats to Bey!
