It was only a month ago when Ciara’s NFL QB Boyfriend of one year, Russell Wilson, popped the question to the R&B singer and shared the moment on social media.
Now, Ciara is opening up about finding love in a story titled Secret Garden in the May 2016 issue of ESSENCE Magazine. She also covers the issue in a photo that ushers in Spring with a beautiful floral set up.
In the article, Ciara dishes on how that, at a young age, she set goals for herself and they’ve come true, allowing her to live a blissful life, the life she created.
“I made a goal sheet,” Ciara tells writer Jeannine Amber about the goals she laid out and envisioned while in high school. Her list was included selling “3 to 4 million” records and to “have longevity,” both of which happened by the time she was 21. Another goal she wanted was to achieve was having her own family and motherhood. “I’d always wanted to have my own family,” she said. “And my pregnancy was planned when I was at a point in my life when I was finally ready to take on the responsibility. She gave birth to her son Future in May of 2014, but her relationship with Future’s father, rapper Future, ended in a public debacle over rumors of his infidelity. And despite the drama, she continued to lay out what she wanted
“That wasn’t necessarily part of my vision,” she recalls. “But the moment I realized I was going to be a single mother, I had to reflect and reorganize my thoughts. I decided to trust that God had a plan for me, and move forward one day at a time.” She even recalled telling a friend what type of guy she wanted. “A God-fearing man with a very fun spirit who loves kids and would really, truly care for me. I was very specific because I do believe you can have it all.” And it looks like she’s received even that!
