With a new album (Joyride), and a world tour on the horizon, Tinashe is prepping to take off in 2016.
To promote, she’s the cover girl of the February/March 2016 Issue of Complex Magazine, looking like a tall glass of water (literally!).
The colorful, summery photo shoot features Tinashe as she frolics in large cool, beverages while wearing bright bikinis. But while the photos are glamorous, the cover story suggests Tinashe is just a regular girl. Despite her success of singles like “2 On” and her debut album Aquarius, the almost 23-year-old singer still lives with her family in suburban L.A., but that soon will change as her star continues to rise. The article also goes deep into her family life; how her parents Michael and Aimie met, and readers meet her younger brothers Thulani, 18, and Kudzai, 16.
As for her seemingly charmed life and her image as an artist, Tinashe explains, “Everyone wants to think that everything you do is a direct reflection of who you are,” she says. “It’s not always that deep. I’ve definitely had a particular life that many haven’t. I think that it’s important to share your story but also to be able to find the relatability [in the stories of others]. Because it’s important to me to be able to relate to my fans,” she tells writer Ross Scarano.
