Remember last year when Jagged Edge member Kyle Norman was arrested for assaulting his then-fiancé, Marikka Maria? Well, I guess people are still talking, because one year later, Norman and his now-wife sat down with Steve Harvey’s daytime talk show to discuss the incident.
The police report stated that Norman choked her, tried to force her to swallow her engagement ring, and other injuries including a large knot on her forehead, a cut on her nose, and a blood clot in her eye.
On the Jan 22nd episode, Kyle opened up about what happened that night, claiming his rage surprised even him. “To be honest with you Steve, all I know is that I just caused harm to her,” the singer said. “I know I hit her. I know I was on top of her. It was an out-of-body experience.”
Norman said he’s never hit his fiancé before that fateful night. “I was just too far gone at that point,” Norman admitted. “I was just out of my mind delirious.”
Harvey also spoke to Maria, who said the incident resulted in their foster daughter being taken away and the relationship with her father is now strained. She also revealed why she stayed with Norman after the abuse; she blames it on the alcohol, and forgives him, too. “When you love someone, you believe in God, and you just have to forgive,” Maria told Harvey. “This was just a situation with Kyle that I just knew it was not him. He’s always been a provider for me, he’s always cared for me. And I think he was just out of his mind. Drinking, and drugs and things like that, you’re not yourself.”
