February 15th will mark the airing of the 58th annual Grammy Awards, and the first round of performers have been announced by The Recording Academy.
Of course, Adele is one of the night’s performers, her album 25 breaking sales records all over the place (selling 8 million units in the U.S. since its November release). However, the album was released after the Sept. 30, 2015 deadline, too late to qualify for this year’s nominations.
Kendrick Lamar has also been announced as one of the night’s performers, along with the Weeknd and Little Big Town. Lamar is a contender with 11 nominations. More performers will be announced in coming days.
"This lineup of talented artists is just the beginning of what will, once again, prove to be music's biggest night. We look forward to celebrating what's been a wonderful year in music, honoring the best of the best and featuring never-before-seen performances," Recording Academy CEO Neil Portnow said in a statement.
Lionel Richie will be honored during the telecast ss this year’s MusiCares person of the year.
LL Cool J will host the show which will air live on CBS from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Feb. 15 at 8pm EST.
