Now that Adele matched Lionel Richie with having a hit song called “Hello” (for all the young’uns, we’re talking his 1983 single), here come the comparisons! BlendTV has already made a comedic video that splices the two videos together:
But could there potentially be a collaboration between Lionel and Adele in the future? According to Mr. Richie, the answer is yes…almost.
In speaking with E! News, Richie dished that he plans on working with the British songbird. “We are going to be doing something together—that’s already almost in the works,” he said. “I can almost say that we are talking, but right now she has a mission. Her mission is [to] get her record out and go on tour, so until she finishes that cycle, that won’t happen just yet. She is committed to that.”
He goes on to explain that it was other people who thought it would be a good idea: "You have no idea how many people called me on the phone and said, 'Are you going to let her get away with that? She stole 'Hello!'' Then I said I don't own 'Hello.' I own the melody," he said. "But, what it did was it blew everything to the ceiling. The conversation came up. If you say Adele and you say Lionel or Lionel and Adele…that's the best pairing you could have!"
Hhmm, there’s a lot of “almosts” in his statement, so I don't hold too much weight to this. But maybe if they pull off a "surprise" duet at the 2016 Grammy's, perhaps!?
